funny games
I really want to see Funny Games. I enjoyed Haneke's earlier film "Cache" though it was slower than all hell (10 minute stationary shots of a building front.. for reals?). Anyway, the reviews (and Kubrick-esque trailer) make this seem much more promising - perhaps a self-aware violent commentary on media violence (or just a load of crap to 98% of the American audience)? We'll see...

hmm cache was interesting in retrospect (i wasn't very charitable to it at the time...esp that shot). jeez...just saw the trailer...that seems like a fascinating film (or just really sadistic)

Did you see his German Funny Games? Apparently this new one will be shot-for-shot the exact same movie.

It'll be interesting to see how he translates it to English. I found the German one not so great so I'm hoping it was just a language barrier and because of that, the full extent of creepiness was just not realized.
